More Manchester City stars were in action for their countries overnight as the international fixtures continued continued. Last night saw 5 City players feature as a part of their national team squads in a host of friendlies played all over the globe last night.

Oscar Bobb and Erling Haaland both got through 75 minutes for Norway in their 2-1 loss to the Czech Republic. The pair put in lively displays before they were substituted. Oscar Bobb scored his second goal for his country with a sublime strike in the 20th minute. His strike showed everything that has made Bobb one City’s brightest prospects since his promotion to the Manchester City first team.

Nathan Ake got through 90 minutes as the Netherlands beat Scotland 4-nil in a friendly in Amsterdam. It was an assured performance at the back from the Dutch defender as his side put Scotland to the sword late to pick up an emphatic victory.

Meanwhile, for Spain City’s midfield general, Rodri was an unused substitute as his country went down 1-nil to Colombia. It is positive news for Pep Guardiola’s side to see Rodri get some rest given his heavy workload.

Finally, Julian Alvarez was also an unused substitute in Argentina’s 3-nil win over El Salvador. Given the amount of football Alvarez has played over the past two seasons, a rest should do the City striker the world of good.

There will be more Manchester City stars in action over the weekend. They are headlined by City’s English contingent, facing off against Brazil in a mouth watering friendly this weekend.

  1. You’re also missing two City players who played in Poland last night which the incredibly useless BBC Sports site has ignored.

England under 20s won 5-1 in something called the Elite Series. They go to Czechia next.

The two City players were Micah Johnson and Jadel Katonga (currently on loan at Peterborough).
