Mauricio Pochettino’s side stands in Manchester City’s way of making another FA Cup final. The two teams have played out two draws this season in the Premier League. They drew 4-all at Stamford Bridge early in the season in a pulsating affair. The second meeting between the two teams finished 1-all at the Etihad Stadium. Both games have been entertaining affairs, and their semi-final clash could be another classic between the two teams. The game will also see familiar faces Cole Palmer and Raheem Sterling face off against their former team at Wembley.
Manchester City secured their place with a 2-nil win over Newcastle last weekend. Two goals from Bernardo Silva settled the quarter-final tie. Chelsea beat Leicester 4-2 at Stamford Bridge yesterday to book their place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
The FA Cup semi-final ties will be played over the weekend of April 20/21. Manchester United will face off against Coventry City in the other semi-final. A rematch of last year’s FA Cup final, which was famously won by Manchester City 2-1 over Manchester United, is potentially on the cards.
So far, Pep Guardiola’s side have seen off Huddersfield Town, Tottenham Hotspur, Luton Town, and Newcastle United in their FA Cup defence. Now, only Chelsea stand in their way of back to back FA Cup final appearances.
