Manchester City suffer another injury blow as Kevin De Bruyne is withdrawn from international duty

Manchester City have suffered a fresh injury blow with Kevin De Bruyne being withdrawn from the upcoming internationals for Belgium due to a minor groin injury. It is another injury blow for Pep Guardiola’s side. De Bruyne joins Jack Grealish and Ederson on the injury list for the world champions.

Belgian football expert Kristof Terreur broke the news of Kevin De Bruyne’s injury via his official X account. Terreur added that is only a minor groin injury for the Manchester City legend.

Belgium manager Domenico Todesco has also commented on the injury situation of Kevin De Bruyne. He has said that Belgium won’t risk the playmaker with the European championships coming up this summer. Todesco said: “I don’t know if there is a connection to his hamstring injury. It is now a problem on the groin that he struggled with in the last few matches. He’s been playing with a minor groin issue in the last games. I spoke to the doctor and Kevin, we decided the risk is too big. It’s better to give him time to recover well at Manchester City and have him ready for the Euros.”

It is a blow for Manchester City to see Kevin De Bruyne once again suffer an injury setback. After missing 5 months of this season due to hamstring surgery he had returned in sparkling form to aid City’s cause this season. He added another assist to his collection last weekend as his corner set up John Stones for City’s opener in their 1-all draw at Anfield.

Another update on the status of De Bruyne is expected when Pep Guardiola faces the media before Manchester City’s FA Cup quarter-final against Newcastle United this weekend.
