Heading into yesterday’s game there was a feeling that Manchester City had to come away with something from Anfield. Pep Guardiola’s team eventually came away with a point in trying circumstances at the end of 90 minutes. It wasn’t City’s best performance but it could prove to be a precious point at season’s end. Yesterday’s result has set the scene for a three-way battle for the Premier League title. Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City look set to fight it out for the remainder of the season. A host of possibilities remain at play over the final 10 games as one of the most hotly contested title races in memory looks set to play out.
Speaking post-game Pep Guardiola said it was important that his team is there with 10 games remaining in the campaign. He was happy to pick up a point at Anfield. He told the media: “Today I reflected with the guys what we have done over the years against Jurgen’s team. Give us more credit for what we have done. To us already it was clear. Arsenal last year came back and stayed there for a long time because they are a young team with an exceptional manager. There are still 10 games to play, 30 points to play for, one point difference. Still, we are there. That is the important thing.”
The scene is set for a three-way tussle for this season’s Premier League table. After their draw at Anfield Pep Guardiola’s team are there as their quest to create history will heat up over the next 10 Premier League games.
