The injury status of the Manchester City squad will be known later today after the team trains. There are several players under an injury cloud heading into Sunday’s pivotal match against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
Speaking with the media during his pre-game press conference Pep Guardiola revealed that his team had Friday off before training today. He said the availability of several key players would be known after training Jack Grealish, Matheus Nunes and Jeremy Doku are under injury clouds currently. The City boss said: “We have a day off today – tomorrow we are training, and we will see how they feel.”
Guardiola added that how he sets his team up for tomorrow’s match depends on who he has available. He added: “My process is ‘which players do we have?’ – will Doku be ready and when Jack will be ready? We will know tomorrow – and then we know what we can do.”
Of Manchester City’s injured trio, it would appear that Jack Grealish won’t be available for tomorrow’s match. Jack Gaughan reported earlier this week for the Daily Mail that Manchester City would take a cautious approach with his recovery from a groin injury.
Matheus Nunes and Jeremy Doku may play some role in tomorrow’s match. Nunes was substituted in the second half of City’s 3-1 win over FC Copenhagen with a finger injury. Pep Guardiola also revealed before City’s midweek win that Jeremy Doku missed the game after feeling ‘niggles’.
The make-up of the Manchester City squad for tomorrow’s match will become clearer after the world champions train later today.
