Following their midweek win over FC Copenhagen Manchester City have now begun preparations for Sunday’s massive Premier League clash with Liverpool. Pep Guardiola’s side travel to Anfield to face Jurgen Klopp’s league leaders in an eagerly anticipated encounter.
While the game isn’t necessarily a title decider the match will have huge implications in this season’s title race. A victory for Manchester City would see them leapfrog Liverpool to the top of the Premier League. If Jurgen Klopp’s side picks up all three points they could open up a four-point lead over the world champions in the table. Plus with Arsenal only two points off the top of the table a draw at Anfield may play into Mikel Arteta’s team’s hands.
It is in this high-pressure setting where Pep Guardiola’s side must be brave if they are to pick up all three points on Sunday. The champions know what awaits them at Anfield. A tough test against a side that will be fired up in front of their fans. Liverpool will be determined to get one over Manchester City especially as they attempt to give Jurgen Klopp a fond farewell this season.
But these are tests this City side knows well. They have faced them before and with Pep Guardiola at the helm and the experience in the City squad, it isn’t a new experience for the world champions. If they can go to Anfield and play their football against a determined Liverpool side it will go a long way in securing three points for City.
Erling Haaland urges his team to be brave at Anfield
Speaking before his team’s win over FC Copenhagen City striker Erling Haaland urged his team to be brave at Anfield. City’s number 9 said: “It’s going to be a huge game and one of the biggest games in England, so we have to be ready for the game. We have to be brave and we have to play at our best because they have been really good this season.”
Manchester City face one of the toughest tests of their season on Sunday. They have only won once at Anfield since 2003. But if they can go to a hostile venue and play their football with a sense of bravery it could go a long way in claiming a vital victory against Liverpool.
