Manchester City’s star striker Erling Haaland has told the media how happy he is with life at the European champions. He also offered a glimpse into his elite mentality which has made him arguably the world’s best striker.
Speaking before his team takes on FC Copenhagen in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie Manchester City’s star striker told the media how happy he is at the world champions. Erling Haaland said he was happy with life at the European champions. He told the media: “I’m really happy, especially with the people I’m surrounded by. The manager, the directors, the board, I am really happy I have to say. I say this now, it will probably be a massive headline, tomorrow you never know what the future brings but I am happy. You can write this but you also have to write everything I said before. I am happy.”
Haaland also offered a glimpse into his elite mentality. While City’s number 9 was on the scoresheet in his team’s 3-1 win over Manchester United he also had one of the misses of the season in the first half. The Norwegian international told the media that it is something he still has to work on in his game. He said: “People say I’m good at scoring goals but I missed the biggest chance in the world ever so I can get better at that.”
Erling Haaland’s mentality separates him from other players
The mentality of Erling Haaland is a key weapon in his game. His ability to put a miss like his horrendous one against Manchester United behind him to score later on speaks volumes about what makes him such a great player. At the top level, it is fine margins that separate the very good players from the very best. Haaland’s comments show he is still driven to improve which is remarkable given what he has already achieved at Manchester City. He has also taken strides in his overall game this season which has shown it isn’t just about scoring goals for Erling Haaland.
The sky is the limit for the player that Erling Haaland could become. But his comments at today’s pre-game press conference highlight just how driven he is to stay at the top of world football.
