City’s superb keeper made an error but they are rare given how he plays

PoManchester City’s superb keeper Ederson made a rare error in their 3-1 win over FC Copenhagen. While the champions dominated the game at the Parken Stadium the error from Ederson did momentarily allow the hosts back into the game. But Pep Guardiola’s side regained their composure to seize control of the Champions League Round of 16 tie.

Given the way Ederson plays in goal for the world champions City’s superb keeper rarely makes a costly error. Squakwa shared via their official X account that it was only the second error Ederson has made which directly led to a goal in the last three years. His last one was against Tottenham in January 2023.

With the risks Ederson takes with his feet it shows just how good he is that he has only made two errors that have contributed to goals in the past three years. With his passing ability and shot-stopping the Brazilian keeper is a key cog in the City machine. With his ability on the ball, he is a prominent feature in Pep Guardiola’s side’s possession game. Ederson’s all-round ability makes him the ideal keeper for the world champions. One costly error doesn’t change this fact.

While City’s superb keeper made a costly error against FC Copenhagen they are a rare occurrence. With Chelsea next up in the Premier League for Manchester City Ederson will likely have moved on from his mistake and be ready for the challenge on Saturday.
