Pep Guardiola reveals that the entire City squad is now fully fit

Pep Guardiola has revealed that he has a fully fit squad to choose from for Monday night’s meeting with Brentford. The Manchester City squad has been hit with injuries this season but there now appears to be light at the end of the tunnel.

Speaking during his pre-game press conference the City manager revealed he finally has a full squad to choose from. When asked about the injury status of his squad Pep Guardiola said: “Of course it’s really important. Everybody is fit, everybody is ready. Manu is fit as well. The busy period is here, the Champions League is around the corner so it’s good to have everyone.”

The City manager was also that John Stones can return to the form he displayed last season. Stones has had an injury-interrupted season but made his return during Manchester City’s 3-1 win over Burnley last week. When asked about Stones and how he’d recovered from his ankle injury Guardiola said: “It was not muscular, it was his ankle,” he added. “When the ankle is okay the risk is minor I would say. He needs to make a step forward to the John Stones we saw last season. Step-by-step hopefully he can continue and avoid it.”

With Manuel Akanji back available it gives Pep Guardiola a full squad to work with. With Guardiola also declaring Erling Haaland ready to start against Brentford the City manager may be able to finally pick his best eleven on Monday night.

With Kevin De Bruyne returning and being back to his scintillating best the hope will be that the rest of his returning teammates can follow suit with a busy month ahead.
