Manchester City’s superstar striker Erling Haaland finally made his long-awaited return from injury in his team’s 3-1 win over Burnley. While it was fantastic to see Haaland back on the pitch it was clear by the end of the game that he needs time to regain his best form.
When he was introduced in the 70th minute to replace Kevin De Bruyne City’s number 9 received a hero’s welcome from the City faithful. It had been two months since Haaland had featured for Pep Guardiola’s side. His introduction was a standout moment during the second half that City had well under control.

While it was a feel-good moment to see Haaland back on the pitch it was clear during his cameo appearance that he would need minutes to regain his touch. City’s superstar striker showed he had his movement and ability to time his run. It may take the striker a few games before he is back to his barnstorming best.
There is no cause for concern for Manchester City that Haaland appeared rusty in his long-awaited return. It is to be expected after such a lengthy injury layoff for the Norwegian international. Given Haaland’s stature in the game and his accomplishments for Manchester City, it was almost expected that he’d return with a hat trick.
But it may be a few games before the goals flow for City’s superstar striker. But rest assured they will come as Haaland settles back into Pep Guardiola’s lineup. While it may take time for Haaland to return to his best his mere presence on the pitch is a boost for European champions. It will also have City’s rivals looking over their shoulders for his inevitable impact.
