Esteemed Kompany host Steven Mcinerney previews tonight’s clash between Manchester City and Burnley. Pep Guardiola’s side will be keen to continue their good recent form against Vincent Kompany’s side in a crucial Premier League clash.
Steven looks at the recent storm that has surrounded Kyle Walker. There have been calls for Walker to be stripped of the captaincy in light of his recent interview with the Sun. Previous City captains have been upstanding citizens like Vincent Kompany, David Silva, Fernandinho and Ilkay Gundogan. While Kyle Walker has his issues off the pitch he has been chosen by his teammates to be their captain. If the players have no issue with him continuing in the role then it shouldn’t be an issue.
Will Pep Guardiola unleash Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne against Burnley? Tonight’s game may be the first time the pair are on the pitch together since City’s 3-nil win over Burnley on the opening day of the Premier League season. With the pair back and available for selection we may see them finally start a game together which will be a welcome sight for Manchester City fans.
Burnley come into tonight’s game fighting for their Premier League survival. Vincent Kompany’s side sits 19th on the league table and will be desperate for a result to kickstart their season. They have also changed their playing style of late. Steven looks at how they’ve transformed from a possession-based side to one less focused on maintaining possession. It has been an interesting shift as Burnley seek points to climb up the table.
Steven Mcinerney looks at all of this and more as he previews tonight’s game at the Etihad Stadium.
