Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Erling Haaland will be selected for tomorrow night’s Premier League clash with Burnley. He also added that the treble winners have a full squad available for selection. Swiss defender Manuel Akanji has returned to training after recovering from the knee injury he suffered against Huddersfield Town.
The City manager was asked about Haaland’s availability during his pre-game press conference. When asked about the fitness of Haaland and whether or not he would feature against Burnley Guardiola said: “First time he is back. We have all the squad, we are stronger. He is an important player for us.”

There was also positive news on the status of Manuel Akanji. The Swiss international had been out since Manchester City’s FA Cup third-round tie win over Huddersfield Town. But Guardiola revealed that Akanji has resumed training and is available for selection. He told the media: “The most important news is almost all of the squad is fit. We don’t have injuries. Manu is back. Training well, he doesn’t feel his knee. John as well.”
With Manchester City set for a crucial block of fixtures beginning tomorrow evening the positive news on the injury front will be a boost for the treble winners. The champions will need all hands on deck as they seek to defend the treble. With Haaland and Akanji back Guardiola will now have all of his options available for City’s chase for history.
