Manchester City draw Luton Town in the FA Cup fifth round

Manchester City have drawn Luton Town in the fifth round of the FA Cup. The champions booked their ticket for the fifth round of the competition with a 1-nil win over Tottenham on Friday night.

The FA Cup holders will travel to Kenilworth Road for their fifth-round tie. Pep Guardiola’s side beat Luton Town earlier this season at the venue 2-1 in the Premier League. Goals from Bernardo Silva and Jack Grealish were enough for City to overcome Rob Edwards side. Luton Town took an unexpected lead in the previous meeting between the two teams. An Elijah Adebayo header had given the hosts a shock lead moments before half-time. The treble winners would fight back in the second half to secure a vital victory in the earlier meeting between the two sides.

Manchester City’s fifth-round FA Cup tie against Luton Town will take place on the week of the 26th of February. The full draw for the fifth round of the FA Cup can be seen below.

The tie with Luton adds another fixture to an already busy February for Manchester City. City’s match with Luton Town will be the 8th game of a busy February for the treble winners. Next month is shaping as a crucial month in Pep Guardiola’s sides’ treble defence. If the treble winners can get through a tough February with a run of positive results it could set them up for a shot at history.
