Could Manchester City be set for a battle for Joshua Kimmich this summer?

It seems that Manchester City may have to fend off competition from other top clubs to secure the signature of Joshua Kimmich. Manchester City have been linked previously with a move for the German international. Simon Kay had previously reported on Manchester City’s interest in securing Kimmich.

Christian Falk has also reported on his official X account that the world champions and title rivals Liverpool both have an interest in securing the versatile midfielder. Furthermore, Falk further reports that PSG are also interested in securing Kimmich if he were to leave Bayern Munich.

The reports from Falk indicate that a summer transfer battle may be on the horizon for Kimmich. Bayern Munich may look to cash in on the midfielder with a potential transfer battle for his services. Kimmich’s contract expires with the Bundesliga champions at the end of the 2024/25 season.

Firstly, from a Manchester City point of view, the addition of Joshua Kimmich seems a logical move. Additionally, with the departure of Kalvin Phillips to West Ham there is a vacancy for a defensive midfielder in the champions squad. Given his versatility and experience the Bayern Munich man may be the perfect addition to Pep Guardiola’s squad. Furthermore, Kimmich did play under Guardiola during the City manager’s spell managing Bayern Munich. Finally, with his pedigree, he does seem to be an ideal fit with the Manchester City squad.

Kimmich could come in and play a role almost immediately for Pep Guardiola. With the Manchester City squad appearing to need a backup for Rodri the Bayern Munich midfielder may be the ideal candidate for the job.
