John Stones returns to training in a boost for Manchester City

John Stones has returned to training for Manchester City during their training camp in Abu Dhabi. It is welcome news for Pep Guardiola’s side with the England international having been out since their 3-1 win over Everton last month.

Simon Bajkowski has reported for Manchester Evening News that John Stones has returned to training. The defender has had an injury-interrupted season to date. He has been limited to 13 appearances all season due to a multitude of injuries. With the news of Stones return to training it will be a boost for Pep Guardiola’s side.

It has been a frustrating season for one of Manchester City’s most important players. While the treble winners are well-placed for the second half of the season the imminent return of Stones will add another key piece to Pep Guardiola’s line-up.

There has been welcome news on the injury front during City’s midseason camp in Abu Dhabi. Ederson returned to training after being substituted with an injury during the first half of the champion’s 3-2 win over Newcastle.

It leaves only Manuel Akanji and Erling Haaland currently unavailable due to injury. Pep Guardiola told the media before his side’s win over Newcastle he was hopeful of having the pair back at the end of the month. It remains to be seen if the pair will return to training in Abu Dhabi.

Haaland and Akanji will be the only two Manchester City players out with injury after John Stones return to training.
