Manchester City have swept up a tremendous haul of awards at the Dubai Globe Soccer Awards overnight. The treble winners picked up 6 of the awards on offer. The Dubai Globe Soccer Awards haul caps off a tremendous 2023 for the club.
Erling Haaland finally pipped Lionel Messi to an award by winning the the Best Men’s Player award from Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Cristiano Ronaldo and Kevin De Bruyne to name a few. City’s number 9 had a spectacular year and it was recognised with the coveted award.
Manchester City also picked up the Best Men’s Club award. They were in the final shortlist of 10 clubs for the title. They beat Inter Milan, Barcelona and Sevilla who were three of the nine teams City beat to the award.
Pep Guardiola was crowned the Best Coach. He beat Luciano Spalleti and Simone Inzaghi who he also beat to the FIFA Best Men’s Coach award. Guardiola had previously won Coach of the Century from 2001-2020 at the 2020 edition of the Dubai Globe Soccer Awards.
Manchester City midfield lynchpin Rodri took home the Best Midfielder award. It capped off a stunning year for City’s midfield general. He beat Jude Bellingham, Luka Modric, Pedro and teammates Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva to the award.
Ederson won the Best Goalkeeper Award. He was one of 6 finalists alongside Thibaut Courtois, Yassine Bounou and Andre Onana to name three of the other candidates. City’s Brazilian keeper can add the award to his FIFA Best Men’s Goalkeeper Award he also claimed.
And finally for Manchester City Khaldoon Al-Mubarak took out the Best President award. 2023 was a spectacular year for Manchester City with them winning 5 major trophies. Khaldoon Al-Mubarak’s award recognises the success the club achieved in 2023.
