Manchester City stars dominate the FIFPRO Men’s World 11

Manchester City stars have dominated the FIFA FIFPRO’s Men’s World 11. The side was announced at the FIFA Best Awards overnight and it was no surprise that the treble winners had such a prominent presence in the lineup.

Ruben Dias, John Stones and Kyle Walker were selected at the back in the FIFPRO Men’s World 11. Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva earned positions in midfield. Manchester City’s goal machine Erling Haaland was selected by his peers up front in the World 11. Pep Guardiola’s side became the first team to have 6 players selected in the FIFPRO World 11 since Barcelona achieved the same feat in 2010.

Manchester City’s defensive stalwart Ruben Dias said earning a place in the FIFPRO World 11 is a special honour. He added that the treble winners were eager to repeat their success of 2023. Speaking in an interview published on mancity.com he said: “It definitely feels special. I guess how many players we ended up having in this World XI expresses how successful the season was. We just have to keep the focus and keep pursuing more and more trophies because in the end that’s what allowed this to happen.”

The world champions having 6 players selected in the FIFPRO World 11 capped off a successful night for the club. Manager Pep Guardiola was crowned the Best FIFA Men’s Coach for his side’s success in 2023. Ederson also took out the Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper award to make it a successful night for Manchester City.
