Manchester City’s goal machine Erling Haaland appears set to stay at the club while Pep Guardiola is manager. A report from Wayne Veysey of footballinsider247.com indicates that the striker will remain at the club for the foreseeable future.
City’s number 9 has been linked with a summer move to La Liga giants Real Madrid. Spanish publication AS has reported that Real may target Haaland this summer. They add that the Spanish giants may shift their attention to Manchester City’s goal machine if they cannot secure the signing of Kylian Mbappe.
As it stands there has been no indication of Erling Haaland looking to leave the treble winners. He shared on social media images of himself enjoying Manchester City’s epic comeback win over Newcastle United. The striker is currently out with a foot injury. Pep Guardiola informed the media that he is likely out until next month as he recovers from the injury.
Wayne Veysey reports that the striker is unlikely to leave the treble winners while Pep Guardiola remains at the club. Veysey quoted scout Bryan King who was speaking on the Football Insiders Inside Track podcast King said: “He will be at Man City certainly as long as the manager is there. Let’s be honest, where in the world is there a better manager than Guardiola?”
Erling Haaland appears set to stay at Manchester City for the foreseeable future
The report from Wayne Veysey would appear to put to bed any imminent move to Real Madrid for Erling Haaland. While the Spanish giants are long-time admirers of the striker it appears that he is set to stay at the Etihad. With Pep Guardiola contracted until the end of the 2024/25 season Veysey’s report indicates there is no chance of Haaland leaving until then at the earliest.
Manchester City’s goal-scoring machine will be hoping to return to the pitch following his side’s midseason break. He has currently missed City’s last 9 games due to a foot injury.
Pep Guardiola’s side have won their past 6 games in all competitions without the striker. If he can return after the midseason break coupled with the news of the striker appearing to have no intention to leave Manchester City it could be a huge boost for the treble winners as they seek to defend the treble they won last season.
