Manchester City draw Tottenham away in the FA Cup fourth round

Manchester City have been drawn to play Tottenham in the fourth round of the FA Cup. The tie will take place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on the weekend of the 27/28th of January.

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for Pep Guardiola’s side. The world champions have lost all five games they’ve played at the ground and haven’t scored a goal in the process.

City manager Pep Guardiola jokingly said after his side claimed the treble last season that this season would be a success if his team scored at the ground. The FA Cup fourth-round tie presents his team with an opportunity to break that streak. It also provides them with the chance to win their first game at the ground.

It promises to be an entertaining game between two sides who play attacking football. With Manchester City set to welcome back Erling Haaland and having De Bruyne and Doku back from injury they should have all their attacking weapons available for the tie. Tottenham also play an attractive brand of football under manager Ange Postecoglou.

There is the potential that the game could be a classic FA Cup tie given the nature of the football the two teams play. The world champions next face Newcastle at St.James Park before they face Spurs in the FA Cup two weeks later.
