Manchester City and River Plate have completed a deal that will see Claudio Echeverri sign for the world champions. The treble winners have beaten a host of teams to the prized signature of one of Argentina’s hottest prospects.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reports that documents between the two clubs have been exchanged ahead of Echeverri’s signing for Manchester City. In addition to the deal being completed, Romano adds that the Argentinian youngster has signed a 6-year deal with City. Furthermore, Romano adds that the wonderkid will stay on loan at River Plate until December this year.

The deal comes as a significant statement from Manchester City. Fabrizio Romano had previously reported that Chelsea and Barcelona were also interested in securing Claudio Echeverri. But the champions have moved quickly to wrap up a deal for the young midfielder.
With the January transfer window officially open all that awaits is official confirmation of the deal. Following on from Manchester City’s historic 2023 the deal for Claudio Echeverri is another coup for the European champions. To add another highly-rated young prospect to the City ranks is a clear signal of intent from the treble winners. The champions do not intend to stand still and admire what they’ve achieved.
