Kalvin Phillips is reportedly keen to join Newcastle United in the January transfer window. The England international is keen for more first-team opportunities ahead of next year’s European Championships. Phillips has endured a frustrating spell at Manchester City and appears set to depart the club next month.
Transfer reporter Rudy Galleti has reported on his official X account that the Manchester City midfielder is keen to join Newcastle. He adds that Phillips believes he could play a key role for Eddie Howe’s team. Furthermore, Galetti also adds that remaining a part of Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 24 is a factor in the midfielder’s desire to head to Newcastle.

It seems at this stage that Kalvin Phillips may have his choice of black and white stripes next month. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported earlier this month that Juventus had opened talks with Manchester City in regards to a possible loan deal for the midfielder.
It has been a frustrating spell at Manchester City for Kalvin Phillips. Since arriving from Leeds United he has failed to make an impression for the treble winners. He has only made 10 appearances this season for the world champions. Rico Lewis, Mateo Kovacic and Matheus Nunes have all been preferred to the English midfielder.
It would appear that Phillips time with Manchester City will come to an end next month. Where his next destination will be remains to be seen.
