De Bruyne, Haaland, Doku and Stones all ruled out of Sheffield United game

Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Kevin De Bruyne, Erling Haaland, Jeremy Doku and John Stones will all miss Manchester City’s Premier League match against Sheffield United. The champions face the Blades at the Etihad tomorrow and will have to do so without four key players.

Kevin De Bruyne does appear the closest of the four to a return to the pitch. The Belgian midfielder has continued training with the City first-team as he continues his recovery from hamstring surgery. He was pictured training yesterday as the return of De Bruyne appears imminent.

There appears to be a wait for Erling Haaland and Jeremy Doku’s return from injury. The pair returned to individual training in Saudi Arabia. But they are yet to return to full training. Haaland has a bone stress condition in his foot. Jeremy Doku is recovering from a hamstring injury he picked up against Tottenham.

John Stones picked up an ankle injury during his side’s 3-1 win over Everton at Goodison Park. It continued a frustrating season for the England international on the injury front. He has only featured 13 times so far this season as injuries have struck the defender on multiple occasions this season.

Speaking during his pre-game press conference ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Sheffield United Guardiola told the media all four wouldn’t but fit to face Chris Wilder’s side. Guardiola told the media: “Nothing has changed from the last games. The same are injured plus John Stones.”

Manchester City will be looking to build on their win over Everton when they host Sheffield United at the Etihad. They’ll have to do it without four key players as they look to keep pressure on league leaders Liverpool.
