Will Erling Haaland feature during City’s match against Everton?

Heading into Manchester City’s Premier League encounter with Everton there are multiple injury concerns for the champions. While it isn’t expected that Kevin De Bruyne and Jeremy Doku will feature will Erling Haaland be amongst the City squad?

City’s number 9 has missed his side’s past 5 games in all competitions. He is currently recovering from a bone-stress condition in his foot. Pep Guardiola was adamant that it wasn’t a stress fracture. Haaland was pictured returning to light training during the FIFA Club World Cup. Since then there haven’t been any updates on the condition of the Norwegian striker. Pep Guardiola didn’t provide a firm update on Haaland’s condition during the FIFA Club World Cup and the striker hasn’t been featured in training images shared on Manchester City’s official website.

Manchester Evening News reported that Erling Haaland is ‘touch and go‘ for the treble winners trip to Goodison Park. After the best part of three weeks on the sidelines, the feeling is that the striker is nearing his return.

Given that the champions face Sheffield United at the Etihad a couple of days after the Everton match it may be a safer bet for the return of Erling Haaland. Based on the available information it does appear that Haaland may not be ready for Wednesday evening’s match at Goodison Park. With Julian Alvarez coming into the Everton game off the back of a brace against Fluminense City can afford to play it safe with Haaland.

The striker is City’s top scorer this season with 19 goals in all competitions. All eyes will shift to Pep Guardiola’s squad announcement pre-game. That’s the next available chance of confirmation of Haaland’s condition.
