With Fabrizio Romano reporting that Manchester City are having discussions internally to bring Girona star Savio to the club what would the winger bring to the European champions? The Brazilian winger has blossomed at the La Liga surprise packets this season which has put him on the radar of a host of clubs across Europe.
Savio has been in sparkling form for Girona so far this season. Currently on loan at the La Liga club from CFG club Troyes, he burst onto the scene this season. With 5 goals and 5 assists in 20 appearances this season he has been a key part of the La Liga surprise packets rise this campaign.
The Girona star does have versatility in his game. He can operate on either wing which is a valuable asset in his game. Savio has primarily operated on the left wing this season for Girona. Being left-footed he has been a constant weapon for City’s sister club. With his dribbling, passing ability and pace the Girona star has tormented opposition defences this season. There are shades of Riyad Mahrez in the young winger’s games.
His eye for a pass and goal is also evident. While the Girona star is an extremely raw talent the tools are there to succeed at the highest level. Savio may need more time to develop before he is ready to play at a club the size of Manchester City. But based on his performances for Girona this season there are glimpses of what he could bring to Pep Guardiola’s squad.
While he has impressed this season it is evident that the Brazilian winger is a raw prospect. At times he is guilty of trying to do too much whether in possession or with his passing. Given he is 19 years of age it would be expected that his game would become more refined in time.
Given his age, the Girona star would likely be a signing for the future for Manchester City. But he has immense talent and potential which could be harnessed to develop him into a future first-team player for the treble winners.
