Could Pep Guardiola be open to extending his stay at Manchester City? Reports from Spain which were relayed by Football 365 indicated that the English FA had approached Guardiola with an offer to take over from Gareth Southgate. Speaking after City’s 3-nil win over Urawa Red Diamonds the City manager made a comment that makes that possibility seem feasible.
The City manager was asked by the media if there was a possibility that he could manage Spain in the future. His answer which was relayed by BBC Manchester reporter Mike Minay was: “I’m so really happy being here with this club. Really, really happy. Still I have one more year ( Guardiola’s contract expires at the end of the 24/25 season). Hopefully, they don’t sack me and I can stay here, the time still with this club.”
Guardiola was asked yesterday whether he’s any plans to manage Spain:

His answer does pose a question, could Pep Guardiola extend his stay at Manchester City? The City manager has everything he needs at his disposal at the treble winners. City has built the club to cater for their manager’s needs. It has led to an era of dominance from the treble winners under Guardiola. His all-conquering side has won 5 Premier League titles, 4 Carabao Cups, 2 FA Cups, one UEFA Champions League title and the UEFA Super Cup. It has been one of Manchester City’s most successful periods in the club’s history with Pep at the helm.
With the City manager loving life at the Etihad it does raise the possibility of another contract extension for Guardiola. Another extension does seem possible given how happy Pep is in his role at the club. That is a tantalising thought for Manchester City fans and a frightening one for City’s rivals.
I can’t see Pep ever managing Spain due to his views on Catalonian independence.
