2023 has been a memorable year for Manchester City and it was honoured again at the BBC Sport Awards overnight. The awards that Manchester City, Pep Guardiola and Erling Haaland took home were a fitting reward for their success this year.
The European champions were crowned Team of the Year at the BBC Sport Awards. Manchester City were a fitting winner of the award after a season and year for the ages. Their unprecedented success saw them win the Premier League, FA Cup, UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup. They are also in the final of the FIFA Club World Cup as they seek to become the first English club to win all of the competitions in a year.

Erling Haaland took home the 2023 World Sport Star award. It is yet another award for City’s number 9 after a year that won’t be forgotten from the Norwegian striker. The World Sport Star award will take its place amongst the Gerd Muller Trophy, UEFA Champions League top scorer, Premier League Golden Boot and a host of other awards for Haaland.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola took home the 2023 Coach of the Year award. It was Guardiola’s genius that proved the inspiration for Manchester City’s success. The City players became an embodiment of their manager as they created history this year.
