Manchester City 2 Crystal Palace 2: City player ratings

Here are the City player ratings after a disappointing 2-all draw with Crystal Palace. It was a game that Manchester City dominated for the majority of the game and held a 2-goal lead through goals from Jack Grealish and Rico Lewis.

But a late collapse from Pep Guardiola’s side gifted Crystal Palace a way back into the game which Roy Hodgson’s men took full advantage of. A 76th-minute goal from Jean-Phillpe Mateta gave Palace hope of a comeback. Phil Foden then conceded a penalty in stoppage time which Michael Olise calmly converted to give Crystal Palace a point.

It’s a case of two points dropped for the champions after dropping a 2 goal lead. Pep Guardiola’s side will now head to Saudi Arabia for the FIFA Club World Cup with some soul-searching to do after a third consecutive draw at the Etihad Stadium.

City player ratings:

Ederson-5/10: Was a spectator for the majority of the game but wasn’t at his best. Could have been sent off on another day for a rash challenge on Mateta in the first half.

Kyle Walker-4/10: Began the game well but faded as it went on. Was caught out for Palace’s opener by appearing to switch off.

Ruben Dias-5/10: Was good on the ball but hasn’t been the calming influence at the back that he usually is.

Nathan Ake-7/10: Was composed at the back and good on the ball. City could do with two Ake’s at the centre of defence given their defensive frailties.

Josko Gvardiol-6.5/10: Played well and was a threat going forward. Could have scored his first goal for City. Does seem to be caught out of position at times at left-back.

Rodri-7/10: A professional performance from Rodri. Was his usual self and couldn’t save his side from the late collapse.

Rico Lewis-7/10: Was brilliant in midfield and rewarded with his first Premier League goal. Unfortunately that moment will be overshadowed by City’s late collapse.

Bernardo Silva-7.5/10: Gave his all and tormented the Palace defence on the right wing. Was unlucky not to score in another classy performance from the Portuguese playmaker.

Phil Foden-7.5/10: Foden was fantastic for the majority of the game. Set up the opener for Jack Grealish with a wonderful ball. Gave away the penalty for Palace to equalise in stoppage time as his side capitulated.

Jack Grealish-8/10: Played a more central role and was a constant threat to Crystal Palace. Scored for the third consecutive Premier League game as he is becoming a bigger goal threat.

Julian Alvarez-4.5/10: Couldn’t get into the game. Toiled away for no reward in a game to forget for the striker.
