Micah Hamilton and Oscar Bobb show that Manchester City’s future is bright

Micah Hamilton and Oscar Bobb showed during Manchester City’s 3-2 win over Red Star Belgrade last night that the club has a bright future. While the game was essentially a dead rubber it turned into a showcase for the City academy. Bobb and Hamilton both showed their tremendous talent and potential to help Pep Guardiola maintain their perfect record in this season’s Champions League.

For Micah Hamilton, his performance and goal capped a wonderful first-team debut. He became the youngest City player to score on his debut in the Champions League for Manchester City.

Besides his goal, he was a constant threat to the Red Star defence. Hamilton’s trickery also earned his side a penalty late in the second half. He showed maturity beyond his years in his first start for the club. After graduating through the City academy since the under-9 level he showed he could become a part of Pep Guardiola’s squad as this season progresses.

Oscar Bobb shone again in his second start for the treble winners. The young Norwegian was a constant menace to the Red Star defence and was also rewarded with his first senior goal for City.

It was another promising display from the young playmaker. He has had a rapid rise since breaking into the Manchester City first-team set-up this season. He has also picked up his first international cap for Norway since breaking into the treble winners first-team.

City’s pair of youngsters showed that the future is bright at the Etihad. With the City academy now having players breaking into the first team, it is a valuable weapon for Manchester City. The hope will be that Hamilton and Bobb can follow in the footsteps of Phil Foden and Rico Lewis to become important pieces of the City squad.
