The persistent talk of Erling Haaland to Real Madrid continues to fester

The persistent talk of Erling Haaland one day heading to Real Madrid continues to fester. The Spanish giants have long been linked with a move for City’s star striker. Haaland has become a crucial part of his side’s success. He broke a plethora of records last season as he helped City secure the treble.

Despite his success at City, and there being no signs of Haaland wanting to leave there has been consistent links with Real Madrid reported. Pacojo Delgado has reported for SER Deportivos that Haaland is Real Madrid’s priority transfer target for the summer transfer window.

Given Haaland’s stature in the game, it is no surprise to see him linked with a club like Real Madrid. Talk of Real Madrid’s persistent interest in Haaland isn’t new territory for Manchester City. Throughout Sergio Aguero’s time at the club, the Argentinean striker was almost annually linked with a move. But he stayed at the Etihad for a decade scoring a club record 260 goals in the process. The champions would be hoping that Erling Haaland follows a similar path. James Ducker of the Telegraph has reported that City are keen to extend the Norwegian striker’s at the club to put an end to the speculation of Haaland moving to Real Madrid.

As it stands there doesn’t appear to be any sign of City’s number 9 wanting to depart the Etihad. Given Haaland’s attachment to the club through his father Alfie, he appears to be happy and loving his time playing under Pep Guardiola.

Despite the reports of Real Madrid’s interest in Haaland, City will be backing their ability to keep their prized asset at the club despite the links to Real Madrid continuing to fester away.
