Juventus and Manchester City are set for talks over Kalvin Phillips it has been reported. It would appear that the England international is certain to depart the Premier League champions in January. The Italian giants appear eager to quickly conclude a deal for the midfielder.
La Gazzetta dello Sport through TMW reports that Juventus director Giuntoli is set to meet his Manchester City counterparts. They add that the meeting may take place during or after the FIFA Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia. They also add that Juve is looking for a 6-month loan for the City midfielder. Furthermore, TMW reported that they may add an option to buy if they qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
It appears almost certain that Kelvin Phillips will depart Manchester City in January. He has only started once for the treble winners this season. Phillips has barely featured for Pep Guardiola’s side this season even when Rodri has missed games due to suspension.
City manager Pep Guardiola apologized to the midfielder for his lack of football before City’s game against Luton Town. Guardiola told the media: “I don’t know what’s going to happen. I feel so sorry for my decision for him. I’ve said that many times. He doesn’t deserve what has happened to him and I’m so sorry.”
With Juventus and Manchester City scheduled for talks over Kalvin Phillips, it appears a move may happen early in the January transfer window. It would bring an end to a disappointing spell at the Etihad for the midfielder.
