Esteemed Kompany host Steven Mcinerney dissects City’s tough win over Luton Town

Esteemed Kompany host Steven Mcinerney reviews Manchester City’s tough 2-1 win over Luton Town. The champions ended their 4 game-winless run in the Premier League with a hard-fought win. It was a much-needed three points for Pep Guardiola’s side and kept them within 4 points of league leaders Liverpool.

It was a hard-fought win for the reigning Premier League champions. Luton Town were up for the contest and took the lead on the stroke of halftime. An Elijah Adebayo header gave the hosts the hope of an upset. But City responded after the interval to come away with a precious three points. City’s ability to dig deep was on full display as they showed the resiliency that has won them the last three Premier League titles. Second-half goals from Bernardo Silva and Jack Grealish secured the champions a vital win.

There were signs that the treble winners were beginning to find their rhythm again. Some of the passing play from Pep Guardiola’s side resembled Manchester City in full flight. If it wasn’t for some inspired keeping from Thomas Kaminski and some determined defending from Rob Edwards side City could’ve ended the game early. But to Luton’s credit, they dug in and forced the European champions to dig deep.

Rodri’s return gave City the impetus to control midfield. With Mateo Kovacic, Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden all putting in lively displays it made the Manchester City midfield more dynamic. City’s makeshift midfield was well beaten by Aston Villa last week yesterday’s performance was a marked improvement.

Steven Mcinerney looks at all of this and more in the video below. It was an important win for City as it keeps them within four points of Liverpool.
