Kevin De Bruyne included in Manchester City’s squad for the FIFA Club World Cup

Kevin De Bruyne has been included in Manchester City’s squad for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup. The Belgian international has been out with a hamstring injury since the opening day of the season. The squads for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup were released on FIFA.com earlier today.

Simon Mullock who is the chief football writer for the Sunday Mirror has also reported the news. Mullock shared the news via his X (Twitter) account earlier this evening.

The news of De Bruyne being included in the City squad for the FIFA Club World Cup will be a boost to Pep Guardiola’s side. He hasn’t featured for the club since their 3-nil win over Burnley. The Manchester City legend suffered a recurrence of the hamstring injury he suffered in last season’s UEFA Champions League final against Inter Milan. He underwent surgery to repair the injury after he gallantly played through the injury late last season. His herculean effort played a massive part in Manchester City’s treble success last season.

It isn’t known at this stage if De Bruyne will feature at the FIFA Club World Cup. He recently provided an update on his recovery from hamstring surgery. He told SkySports he was expecting to return in the New Year. The City midfielder spoke to SkySports at the Abu Dhabi Formula One Grand Prix.

Manchester City will play the winner of Urawa Red Diamonds and Club Leon in the semi-final of the tournament in two weeks.
