Who is unavailable for Manchester City’s trip to face Aston Villa?

With Manchester City’s next Premier League game on Wednesday evening, who will be unavailable for the clash against Aston Villa? The treble winners currently have two players suspended and several in doubt for the trip to Villa Park to face Unai Emery’s high-flying side. Villa sit fourth in the Premier League and welcome third-placed Manchester City on Wednesday night.

Jack Grealish

The England international will miss the match against his former side due to suspension. Grealish picked up his his fifth yellow card of the season against Spurs causing him to miss the trip to Villa Park.

Rodri

Manchester City’s most important player is also out of the Aston Villa match with a one-game suspension. It will be a big loss for Pep Guardiola’s side and how they replace him may go some way in deciding the game.

Jeremy Doku

Doku was substituted due to an injury concern just after halftime of City’s 3-all draw with Tottenham. Reports indicated that he was due to have tests on the severity of the injury.

Matheus Nunes

City’s Portuguese midfielder recently returned to full training after withdrawing from the recent internationals due to injury. Having just returned to full training he may only make the bench for City’s next match.

John Stones

Pep Guardiola may be forced to start Stones out of necessity. With Rodri unavailable he may require the England international to give City more control in midfield. The defender has been back in full training for a week now so it will depend on whether Guardiola deems him fit enough to start. His presence may lift the treble winners out of their current funk, such is his influence.

Kevin De Bruyne

The Belgian international isn’t scheduled to return until after the New Year. De Bruyne last informed the media that he is recovering well from hamstring surgery. His return can’t come soon enough for Manchester City.
