Manchester City vs Tottenham match preview by Steven Mcinerney

Steven Mcinerney looks ahead to Manchester City welcoming Tottenham to the Etihad later today. Today’s game will see second face off against fifth in the Premier League table. The game could be an open affair with both sides intent on playing attacking football.

The Esteemed Kompany host explains that nerves are real when Manchester City face Spurs. The London club have a good record against Pep Guardiola’s side. Though most of those results have come at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium of late, they tend to save their best for City. Ange Postecoglou’s side will head to the Etihad with their squad depleted by injuries and suspension, but that doesn’t make them less dangerous. They’ll be keen to upset the European champions in what promises to be an attractive game of football.

The treble winners will head into the game off the back of consecutive draws in the Premier League. City drew with Liverpool last time out and before that was a thrilling 4-all draw with Chelsea. In between those draws was the midweek 3-2 win over RB Leipzig. City will be keen to put a stop to the defensive errors that have shown themselves in two of the past three games. Pep Guardiola warned his side after the RB Leipzig that if it continues it will cost his side. With Tottenham having Son Heung-Min up front he could exploit any errors made by the City defence.

Another interesting subplot is how will Tottenham approach the game? Pep Guardiola praised Ange Postecoglou for how his side’s play the game, and the Spurs manager has said he won’t change his approach against the champions.
