Manchester City begin their FA Cup defence at home to Huddersfield

Manchester City will begin their defence of the FA Cup with a home tie against Huddersfield Town. The draw took place earlier today as the Second Round of the competition continues this weekend.

Huddersfield Town currently sit 21st in the Championship. They finished 18th in the table last season as Neil Warnock famously kept the Terriers in the Championship last season after taking over the club in February this year. He departed the club in September and was replaced by former Sheffield Wednesday manager Darren Moore.

Huddersfield Town have struggled in the Championship so far this season. They sit 21st only four points above the relegation zone. They have won 4 games, drawn 8 and lost 7 games so far this campaign. Their top scorer in all competitions this season is defender Michal Helik with 5 goals in all competitions as per transfermarkt.com.

Manchester City will be seeking to defend the trophy they famously won last season as they secured the second leg of the historical treble. They defeated Manchester United 2-1 in the final off the back of an Ilkay Gundogan brace. Gundogan scored after 12 seconds in the final to set Pep Guardiola’s side on the path to another trophy. On the way to the final City defeated Chelsea, Arsenal, Bristol City, Burnley and Sheffield United

The most recent meeting between Manchester City and Huddersfield took place during the 2018/19 season. The FA Cup holders won 3-nil on that occasion courtesy of goals from Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane and Danilo.
