Could Erling Haaland face FA action for his furious outburst at Simon Hooper?

Could Erling Haaland be in hot water for his furious outburst at referee Simon Hopper at the end of City’s 3-all draw with Tottenham? City’s number 9 was livid at Hooper’s decision to call the play back for a foul on Haaland after he played Jack Grealish through on goal deep into injury time of the second half. It was a strange decision by the referee at the end of an enthralling contest between the two sides.

Haaland took to X (Twitter) post-game to share his thoughts on the decision.

The Norwegian striker could face a misconduct charge from the FA for the post and his post-game reaction as he left the pitch. While Haaland has every right to feel aggrieved, his reaction may draw heat from the FA.

It capped what was a frustrating game for Haaland. He missed two gilt-edged chances in the first half as Manchester City failed to put Tottenham away. It would prove costly as Ange Postecoglu’s side twice came from behind in the second half to secure a 3-all draw.

The possibility of Erling Haaland facing a charge from the FA could become something to watch for in the coming days. Pep Guardiola’s side will face fourth-placed Aston Villa at Villa Park next. They will be without Rodri and Jack Grealish for the game as they both serve one-game suspensions. The pair picked up their fifth yellow card of the season against Tottenham which resulted in a one-game ban for the pair.
