Manchester City defender Josko Gvardiol is thrilled to be managed by Pep Guardiola. The Croatian defender joined the European champions from RB Leipzig in the summer in a deal worth £77 million as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
Speaking before Manchester City’s UEFA Champions League Group G clash with his former club, the defender explained that he was thrilled to work with the City manager. He said: “Pep is different. What I like most is that he has a look at every detail, trying to make the best in every role, every position. It’s an honour to learn from him and hopefully, I will become a better player.”
The Croatian international has made a positive start to his Manchester City career. He has made 13 appearances for the club since arriving in the summer. His poise in possession and defensive acumen have stood out as he settles into life at the treble winners.
While the defender has made a good start to life under Pep Guardiola he told the media he is still adapting to his new club. He added: “I am still adapting, it’s a process. It takes time, I wasn’t there in pre-season. It is what it is, I’m trying to learn as much as I can and be ready for every game and hopefully, in January we will have time to work on my positioning on the pitch.”
The early signs from Josko Gvardiol have been positive for Manchester City. He has primarily played at left left-back to begin his City career. The young defender can also play as a centre back which is where he starred for Croatia at the 2022 World Cup. Given his start to his career at Manchester City, it appears that Gvardiol will become a key player for the European champions.
