Pep Guardiola has brushed off his post-game spat with Darwin Nunez. The pair were involved in a heated altercation following the final whistle of Manchester City and Liverpool’s 1-all draw yesterday at the Etihad. The incident can be seen below courtesy of the SkySports X (Twitter) account.
Speaking after the game the Manchester City manager was in no mood to address the clash. He told the media: “Nothing happened. He’s stronger than me! Nothing happened. It’s not frustration. I’m really pleased. If you talk about that in the second question of the press conference, you are not on my good side. Maybe for the last question I’ll answer but nothing happened.”
In a game that featured no real flash points the stoush between Guardiola and Nunez was the only real point of tension. Saturday’s game was played in good spirits in what has become arguably the biggest fixture in English football in the past six seasons.
Outside of the post-game stoush with Darwin Nunez, Pep Guardiola was pleased with his side’s performance against Liverpool. The European champions dominated the majority of the game but failed to put Jurgen Klopp’s side away.
Manchester City will finish the weekend in second in the Premier League following the weekend’s results. The treble winners will face RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League next, before returning to Premier League action next weekend against Ange Postecoglu’s Tottenham next Sunday at the Etihad.
