The Etihad atmosphere inspires Manchester City says Bernardo Silva

The atmosphere at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday can inspire Manchester City says midfielder Bernardo Silva. City will face Liverpool in a top-of-the-table clash in the early kick-off on Saturday.

The Portuguese international believes the atmosphere at the Etihad is a crucial weapon in the treble winner’s arsenal. Speaking with David McDonnell of the Mirror the Manchester City midfielder is looking forward to playing at home: “It’s always better to play at home with your fans. We have that feeling at home at the Etihad and we felt it last season in the Premier League and the Champions League.”

Pep Guardiola’s side are unbeaten at the Etihad during 2023. Their winning streak currently sits at 23 games in all competitions. A win over Liverpool at home would equal Sunderland’s record of 24 consecutive home wins set in 1891/92.

Bernardo Silva also added that the big game atmosphere at the Etihad pushes the European champions on. He added: “The energy that the crowd creates at the Etihad is unbelievable and again against Liverpool we are going to try and create that special atmosphere to push us again, knowing we are playing against a very tough opponent.

The early kick-off on Saturday sees the top two sides in the Premier League face off. Liverpool looks like they are back to the side that pushed Manchester City for so long in seasons past. After finishing fifth last season they have begun this season looking like they could be title contenders again.

The Etihad will be rocking come kick-off at 12.30 on Saturday. City’s home crowd has been the twelfth man for Pep Guardiola’s side in 2023 and will no doubt be up for the occasion against Jurgen Klopp’s side.
