Erling Haaland and Nathan Ake both train ahead of City’s clash with Liverpool

Erling Haaland and Nathan Ake have both trained ahead of Manchester City’s clash with Liverpool. Pep Guardiola’s side was besieged by injury concerns over the international break. The images of Haaland and Ake both training with the senior squad will give the European champions a boost ahead of Saturday’s massive fixture.

In a gallery shared on mancity.com, the pair were involved in training on Thursday. Also pictured was City midfield general Rodri. The midfielder missed the first of Spain’s two European Championship qualifiers with some discomfort.

Erling Haaland withdrew from Norway’s final European Championship qualifier against Scotland. City’s number 9 picked up a foot injury in their 2-nil friendly win over the Faroe Islands. Fabrizio Romano has previously reported that the Norwegian striker would play against Liverpool earlier last week.

Meanwhile, the return of Nathan Ake is another boost for Pep Guardiola. The Dutch defender missed Manchester City’s 4-all draw with Chelsea before the international break. He subsequently was withdrawn from the Holland squad for their European Championship qualifiers. In the images shared by mancity.com Ake appeared to train without any issues ahead of Saturday’s game against Liverpool.

Pep Guardiola will speak with the media on Friday ahead of Saturday’s match. Not pictured at training were John Stones, Mateo Kovacic, Matheus Nunes and Ederson. Guardiola’s press conference will be the first chance the City manager has had to provide an update on City’s injured players.

The Premier League champions will face off with Liverpool at the Etihad on Saturday in a top-of-the-Premier League clash.
