Rico Lewis has earned his first senior cap for England in their final European Championship qualifier against North Macedonia. After being called up for Gareth Southgate’s squad the City youngster has been named in England’s starting lineup for the first time. The youngster will be hoping to impress to force his way into Southgate’s squad for next year’s tournament.

It caps a wonderful year for the City Academy graduate. Within a year Lewis has made his senior debut at the treble winners, scored his first goal, became Manchester City’s youngest scorer in the UEFA Champions League and was an important part of Manchester City’s treble success last season.

The youngster was joined by three of his City teammates in Gareth Southgate’s starting eleven. Kyle Walker, Jack Grealish and Phil Foden joined Lewis in England’s starting lineup. Kalvin Phillips was named on the bench. Kyle Walker was named as England captain for the first time in his illustrious career.

England’s game against North Macedonia is the final game of their European Championship qualifying campaign. Gareth Southgate’s squad have already qualified for next year’s tournament. They will finish top of Group C over Italy or Ukraine regardless of the result of their clash tonight.
