Kyle Walker has told the media that he is feeling fresh despite a heavy workload so far this season. After signing a contract extension with Manchester City in the summer the full-back has had a busy season so far this campaign. It’s a testament to Walker’s professionalism and dedication that he is always available for club and country.
In an interview with Joe Bernstein of the Daily Mail, the City leader explained how he keeps himself fit and ready whenever he’s called upon. Walker said: “We’re going to get back from Macedonia early Tuesday morning but I have a good manager who gives us a couple of days off before the weekend. Sometimes it’s a little tiring but I wouldn’t change my job for the world.”
City’s right-back explained that sports science had aided his recovery. He explained: “Sports science has helped me massively. I do my gym work for my muscles and I’m still sharp.”
In an era where the heavy workload of players and teams is a constant talking point, Walker’s outlook on his career is refreshing. He has been ever-present for Pep Guardiola’s side so far this season. He has made 17 appearances for the European champions which is a testament to the full-back’s durability and fitness.
After suffering disappointment after missing out on a starting place for last season’s UEFA Champions League final Walker has been a vital piece of the City side that sits top of the Premier League. He has also been ever-present for Gareth Southgate’s side and is always reliable for England when called upon.
Kyle Walker will next be in action for Manchester City when they face off with Liverpool next weekend at the Etihad.
