Erling Haaland to miss Norway’s clash with Scotland due to injury

Erling Haaland will miss Norway’s European Championship qualifier against Scotland due to injury. The striker picked up a foot injury in Norway’s 2-nil friendly win over the Faroe Islands on Thursday.

Norwegian team doctor Ola Sand had the following news on Haaland in a statement: “The injury is not serious, but he has so much pain and somewhat limited function that the Scotland game unfortunately comes a little too early.”

It is expected that Erling Haaland will now return to Manchester for further assessment ahead of next weekend’s clash with Liverpool. It remains to be seen if City’s number 9 will get up for the top-of-the-table clash against Jurgen Klopp’s side. Haaland suffered a similar injury against Bournemouth where he was substituted at half-time. He was then fit in time for City’s clash with Young Boys three days later. Haaland is City’s top scorer this season with 17 goals in 18 games.

It will be a busy treatment room when the City players return from international duty. Mateo Kovacic is already out for 2-3 weeks with a quad injury. He joins Kevin De Bruyne, John Stones and Sergio Gomez on the injury list. There are also concerns over Matheus Nunes, Ederson and Nathan Ake after their withdrawal from international duty.
