Manchester City midfielder Matheus Nunes has withdrawn from the Portuguese squad for their upcoming fixtures against Liechtenstein and Iceland. He becomes the fourth City player to withdraw from international duty.

Reports indicate that the Manchester City midfielder has picked up a muscle injury. As yet there hasn’t been any official confirmation indicating how serious the injury is that caused Nunes to withdraw from the Portuguese squad.
The Portuguese FA confirmed Nunes withdrawal from international duty via a statement. It said: “The midfielder is unfit for Portugal’s two games. Matheus Nunes was declared clinically unfit for the National Team’s two games against Liechtenstein and Iceland, after undergoing tests. The player will no longer travel to Zurich with the rest of the national delegation.”
Manchester City are currently facing an injury crisis. They have seven first-team players currently dealing with injury concerns. Ederson, Nathan Ake and Mateo Kovacic all withdrew from international duty earlier this week. They join Kevin De Bruyne, John Stones and Sergio Gomez on the injury list for Pep Guardiola’s side.
Manchester City return to action in November 25th against Liverpool at the Etihad. With the top of the table clash looming it is unknown how many City players will miss the clash with Jurgen Klopp’s side.
