A win against Chelsea would cap off a stellar spell from Manchester City

A win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday would cap a stellar spell for Manchester City. Sunday’s clash with Chelsea gives Pep Guardiola’s squad a chance to head into the international break with real momentum for what lies ahead.

Since heading into the previous international break on the back of a defeat to Arsenal the European champions haven’t put a foot wrong. With the Chelsea match being the last game before the next international break, it provides the opportunity for Pep Guardiola’s side to make it six consecutive wins in all competitions.

During the last five games, City have begun to fire on all cylinders. They have shown the rest of the Premier League and Europe that the hunger remains to repeat last season’s historical achievements. The football from Pep Guardiola’s side has resembled the form usually shown by City at the back end of seasons. Usually, the Premier League champions click into gear in the second half of the season as they make their traditional title charge.

But for Sunday’s trip to London, the treble winners will sit top of the Premier League at the start of the weekend. It isn’t City’s traditional spot at this stage of the season but it is an ominous sign for their title rivals.

Chelsea will not be an easy game for Manchester City. The Blues will be keen to build on last weekend’s victory over Tottenham. Mauricio Pochettino’s side does have immense quality in their sizable squad and will be keen to head to the international break off the back of three points against the Premier League champions.

After such a stellar run of performances in the past five games, a win against Chelsea would be the perfect ending to a strong period for Manchester City.
