Manchester City have clicked into gear ahead of a crucial block of fixtures

The past five games have seen Manchester City click into gear. Since losing 1-nil to Arsenal at the Emirates Pep Guardiola’s side has played their best football of the season to win five consecutive games in all competitions. Wins over Brighton, Young Boys, Manchester United, Bournemouth and Young Boys again last night have City poised for a crucial run of fixtures.

Up next for the Premier League champions is a trip to London to face Chelsea. While Mauricio Pochettino’s side is currently rebuilding they will head into the weekend clash with City off the back of a 4-1 win over Tottenham. Chelsea does possess plenty of quality in their squad so Pep Guardiola and his squad will have to be at their best against a familiar opponent.

After the Chelsea game comes the international break. It’s after the upcoming international break when the European champion’s fixture list heats up. They will host rival Liverpool at the Etihad. RB Leipzig is next on the fixture list with City having the chance to clinch the top spot of Group G in the Champions League. Following the clash with the DFB Pokal winners Ange Postecoglu’s Tottenham will be the next side to travel to the Etihad. The last fixture in a tough run of games will be a trip to Villa Park to take on Unai Emery’s high-flying Aston Villa.

The fixture list will see Manchester City face off against three of the top five sides on the Premier League table currently. But Pep Guardiola’s side will head into the crunch block of fixtures in scintillating form. Over the past five wins the City squad has clicked into gear with the goals flowing and the pressing and passing from Pep’s side starting to resemble Manchester City at their best.
