Manchester City 6 Bournemouth 1:City player ratings

Manchester City continued their recent impressive form with a 6-1 demolition of Bournemouth at the Etihad. There were four changes to the starting lineup that dominated Manchester United last Sunday. It was a dominant display from Pep Guardiola’s side as a 7-minute burst in the first half provided three goals to set the champions on their way. Jeremy Doku shone for City in a dazzling display from the Belgian winger. The only downside from the dominant win was an injury to Erling Haaland who was substituted at half-time. Here are the City player ratings from the emphatic win.

City player ratings:

Ederson- 7/10: Barely required in goal but will be disappointed to concede. Was brilliant in possession as always.

Kyle Walker- 7/10: Not troubled out wide on the right in defence. Got forward and offered a threat on the right wing.

John Stones- 7/10: Played more as a centre-half instead of his usual role drifting into midfield. Did his job as usual. Substituted with 20 minutes to go with the game won.

Manuel Akanji- 7/10: Another professional performance from Akanji. Ever reliable as always. Also scored one after a Doku shot deflected off his back for City’s second.

Nathan Ake- 7.5/10: Scored City’s 6th and was rarely beaten playing at left-back. Another quality showing from Ake.

Rodri- 8/10: A typical Rodri performance. Dominated midfield before being substituted.

Mateo Kovacic- 7/10: Will be better after getting through the full 90 minutes. Showed some drive from midfield and was calm in possession.

Bernardo Silva- 9/10: A sublime performance from the Portuguese magician. He’s easily one of the best players in world football. Scored twice to highlight that fact.

Jeremy Doku- 10/10: A dazzling display from Doku. Scored one and picked up 4 assists in a dominant performance. He is a prodigious talent and continually growing into his Manchester City career.

Julian Alvarez- 7/10: Worked hard as always. He put himself about all over the pitch and got a well-earned rest with 20 minutes to go.

Erling Haaland- 6/10: Had one big chance but his extra touch let him down. Substituted at half-time with an injury he picked up just before the interval.

Substitutes:

Phil Foden- 7.5/10: Scored one and buzzed around the pitch after coming at half-time. Is in sublime form right now and always a threat.

Kalvin Phillips-6/10: Got 20 minutes in after coming on for Rodri. Toiled away in midfield with the game already won.

Matheus Nunes- 6/10: Looked like he had scored his first City goal but Bernardo’s chip had cleared the line. The game was over when he came on.

Rico Lewis- 6.5/10: Got through a tidy final 20 minutes after his introduction. His quality is always evident.

Oscar Bobb- n/a: Picked up his first career assist with a sublime cross for Ake to head home City’s 6th. Not on long enough to mark.
