Exequiel Palacios is the latest midfielder to be linked with a possible move to Manchester City. The Argentinean has impressed during his spell with Bayer Leverkusen which has put him on the radar of the treble winners.

TNT Sports has reported of City’s interest in Palacios. They add that any potential move from the treble winners would be dependent on Kalvin Phillips leaving the club in January. Furthermore, they add that they could face competition from Newcastle United and Aston Villa for the midfielder’s signature. Palacios recently signed a contract extension with Xabi Alonso’s side until 2028.

Exequiel Palacios has impressed so far this season for Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen. He has made 12 appearances in all competitions adding 2 goals and 2 assists. Palacios was also a member of Argentina’s World Cup-winning squad in Qatar. He made three appearances at the tournament as Argentina won the tournament with a penalty shootout victory over France.

The Argentinean is the latest midfielder linked with a move to Pep Guardiola’s side. Spanish media outlet Defensa Central previously reported that City had an interest in signing Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos. The German midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season and could be a possible target for the European champions.

Spanish publication Sport has reported that City are a host of clubs monitoring Leverkusen wonderkid Florian Wirtz. They also report that any potential move for Wirtz is more likely to happen in the summer transfer window rather than the upcoming January window.

Any potential Manchester City move for a midfielder could depend on Kalvin Phillips future. Rob Dawson of ESPN has reported that the England international is considering his future at the European champions.
