(Video) Pep Guardiola speaks after City’s dominant win at Old Trafford

Pep Guardiola was full of praise for his side after their 3-nil win over Manchester United at Old Trafford. After a tough opening 10 minutes the European champions dominated the hosts to record an emphatic victory.

A brace from Erling Haaland and a late goal to Phil Foden sealed the three points for City. The win kept the champions within 2 points of early Premier League leaders Tottenham after 10 games.

Speaking post-game the City boss praised the professionalism of his side. Pep also spoke on the high standards of his squad as they seek a fourth consecutive Premier League title. He said: “Football is so difficult and especially maintaining consistency for many years. The biggest title we have is this one. After the Treble and five Premier Leagues in six years, still we are there. I see the professionalism, the mentality and solidarity when it happens it’s the biggest title we have and it’s so nice to watch the team after what we have done.”

The gap between the local rivals has appeared to widen. After losing the corresponding fixture 2-1 last season, and being pushed by United in last season’s FA Cup final there was nothing close about the 191st Manchester derby. The treble winners were a level above their neighbours and sent the rest of the Premier League a message with an emphatic performance.

Pep Guardiola also spoke of how stable Manchester City is off the pitch as a factor in its success. He told the media: “We are in the same direction, me, the CEO, the sporting directors, the chairman. That is why I think the club is so stable.”
