Pep Guardiola heaps on praise on Bernardo Silva following City’s derby triumph

City boss Pep Guardiola has heaped praise on Bernardo Silva for his performance against Manchester United. The Portuguese midfielder was at his best as the treble winners dominated United en route to a 3-nil win which lifted City to third in the Premier League table. It was a complete performance from Bernardo as he created havoc with Jack Grealish on City’s left-hand side.

Speaking post game Guardiola couldn’t praise Bernardo enough. He said: “He loves to play at Old Trafford. He’s played as false 9 in the past and he has the ability to make a lot of passes. He is so intelligent – everyone loves him, and it was another exceptional performance. He’s one of the best players I’ve ever seen in my life. I’ve trained a lot and he’s one of the best.”

The City boss also explained Bernardo’s importance to the City set-up. He added: “We were scared to lose him. He is irreplaceable. I could take 10 minutes talking about what Bernardo Silva means for me and this team. He is a player that is beyond good. We are in love with him.”

Teaming up with Jack Grealish on the left-hand side Bernardo put in his typical all-energy display. Manchester United couldn’t live with the threat the pair posed and it bore fruit for City’s second goal. The pair linked up superbly at the end of a flowing City move to tee up Erling Haaland for his second goal of the game.

The impact Bernardo Silva had against Manchester United was immense. The City playmaker looks like he is now building into his best form as the season progresses.
